3.0 out of 5 stars True Budget Wide-Angle, January 23, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase( What's this?)
This review is from: .. 0.42x HD Super Wide Angle Panoramic Macro Fisheye Lens For The Nikon D5000, D3000 Digital SLR Cameras Which Have Any Of These (18-55mm, 55-200mm, 50mm) Nikon Lenses (Electronics)
I ordered this lens as a temporary thing until I saved up enough money to buy a real lens, not an attatcment. Upon opening the package I realized that it did not fit my d3000's kit lens. There is an adaptor ring in the package that is required to make it fit 18-55 mm lenses. The lens itself works well, but when using it their is a definite shadow in my photos because the flash isn't powerful enough. I'd recomend buying a slave flash or a nikon sb400 before purchasing this product.

OK, I bought this off eBay and paid $38 + $7 shipping. I should have looked it up on Amazon. I paid too much. Stupid me.

So, I was looking through eBay about a month ago, and I came across this interesting little gem.

.42x Wide Macro Fisheye lens for NIKON

This isn't what I would call a serious lens. If you want a good Fisheye, you are going to pay $$$ for it. This is more of a novelty lens. It doesn't even attach to your camera--you screw it onto an existing lens like you might a filter. They claimed 8 element optics--yeah right. The "MACRO" option was just an extension tube with the word "MACRO" printed on it. I mean, it works, but I'd hardly call that a feature.

Anyway, I took it for a test spin. I screwed it onto a 35mm Tokina Macro lens. The pictures are fun. I put the images on Facebook. You can view them even if you aren't on Facebook, assuming Amazon lets me post the link:... Read more

5.0 out of 5 stars A great first fisheye lens., December 27, 2010
This review is from: .. 0.42x HD Super Wide Angle Panoramic Macro Fisheye Lens For The Nikon D5000, D3000 Digital SLR Cameras Which Have Any Of These (18-55mm, 55-200mm, 50mm) Nikon Lenses (Electronics)
I receieved this lens as a gift, that being said.. I do think this is worth around 25-30 dollars if you can snag it at that price. The build of the lens is pretty solid, the macro and actual fisheye twist together well. The adapter is a bit of a different story, it fits well and correctly, it will sometimes get wound up tight on the macro and you will have to work with it a bit to get it off. It would not be an issue if the supplied lens cap fit with the adapter attached, but it only fits when the adapter is off. One other mild annoyance is that when using the built in camera flash there is a dark spot at the bottom of your photos as the lens eats a bit of the flash with its size. There is also an outside ring, that does seemingly nothing but allow the front lens cap to attach to the lens.. I am not sure why the manufacture chose to do this instead of making the cap just a bit smaller. Lastly, I use a Nikon D5000 incase anyone is also wondering.
